Dept Collar
what is the correct way to wear fire dept collar insignia?
It depends on the department. Most departments, be it Fire, Police, or EMS/Rescue have their own policies on the correct wearing of collar brass. Some want straight up and down, and some want sideways, while others want diagonal.
Check with the department's quartermaster, or ask for a copy of the SOPs to find out which yours uses.
Personally? When you've got suspenders, nomex or pbi hoods, collars, velcro, chinstraps, and God knows what else wrapped, closed, or draped around your neck, the very LAST thing you need is collar brass.
Also, nothing says "strap" more than someone trying to look like Patton in their fire uniform, so if you're talking about your class As (assuming there's no policy to the contrary) pick either the shirt collar or the jacket collar, but not both, please.
