When i let my rabbit outside his cage he eats carpet fibers. Does he just chew on the carpet or eat it? And if he eats it will he be okay?

Well, rabbits do like and need to chew on things to keep their teeth trim. Carpet fiber is not the best thing he can chew on. Most carpeting is treated with fire-retardant chemicals, anti-stain chemicals, and formaldehyde. Try to give him other things that will interest him more. Things like a twig or small branch from a fruit tree, or gypsum board- the drywall stuff-, definitely hay, they sell alfalfa in little hard cubes that bunnies like. These are a good treat, NOT food, but a good treat. Timothy hay is best and gives them lots to chew. And, of course there are the cute little shaped blocks of wood sold at the pet stores just for small animals to chew on.
Here's some of my favorite links for bunnies.
Good luck :)
